Welcome to the Flag Ceremony Interactive Enrichment. This walkthrough has three stages Step 1 Setup, Step 2 Opening, and Step 3 Closing. You can click on the buttons above to enter each section. In each section if you click on any words in red you will get clarification in either word or picture format.

This is a good site to walkthrough on your own or have your girls go through it with you. Below you will find the calls for an indoor flag ceremony and the definitions for Flag Ceremony terms. We hope this will be a helpful tool for you and your girls.

Opening Calls for an Indoor Flag Ceremony       

1. Will the Audience Please Rise?
2. Color Guard Attention.

3. Color Guard, Advance.
4. Color Guard, Post the Colors.
5. Color Guard, Salute.
6. Let us Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of Our Country.
7. Color Guard, Dismissed.
8. The Audience May be Seated.

Closing Calls for an Indoor Flag Ceremony  
1. Will the Audience Please Rise?
2. Color Guard Attention.
3. Color Guard, Advance.
4. Color Guard, Honor Your Flag.
5. Color Guard Retire the Colors.
6. Color Guard Dismissed.
7. Audience Dismissed.

   
       
Flag Ceremony Terms  
    Flag Bearer: The person who will carry the flag. The American flag is always held the highest. The Flag Bearer stands silent holding the flag pole at a slight angle in front of the body. The flag bearer stands at attention throughout the ceremony and does not repeat the Pledge of Allegiance nor sing the National Anthem.

Color Guard: They guard the honor of the flag by watching to see that the flag does not touch the ground. They stand behind the flag bearer. Two per flag is traditional, but any number may be used. They stand silent and at attention throughout the ceremony and do not repeat the Pledge of Allegiance nor sing the National Anthem.

Caller: The person who gives commands to the Color Guard and direction to the audience. Stands in front and to one side of audience or at podium.

Salute: Place your right hand over your heart and face the American Flag.

Honor Your Flag: The Color Guard put their right hand over their hearts then at the same time bring them back down to their side.
